Pretty sick as fuck power violence stuff from this Canadian band. I've had a lot of folks tell me this sounds like CROSSED OUT, and like most musical opinions offered up to me these days, they are fairly off-base. There's more MAN IS THE BASTARD here than our Encinitas heroes, but this really sounds like the bastard ofspring of HELLNATION and DYSTOPIA. A pretty potent mix if you ask me. The vocals shriek along at HELLNATION warp speed, interspersed with some Eric Wood impersonations. The drumming really reminds me of Dino from Dystopia. There's also more than a few anvil-heavy sludge parts that burst into lightspeed thrash parts that gives the listener that CROSSED OUT comparison. I'm actually thankful this wasn't just CROSSED OUT worship to be honest, comparisons to that band usually mean instant let-down in my book but this band is fucking awesome and seems to have developed their own style.
- Short, Fast & Loud #14.
Never even heard of these guys before and I am just floored at how good this record is. Absolutely punishing, heavy grind that switches effortlessly between slow and fast parts. Fuck, where do people find bands like this... ah yes: Canada. The only band I can think of that sounds even remotely similar is the great Iron Lung and even that's a stretch - they're both highly original bands with a unique outsider take on the grind thing, making weird, creepy rhythms that just explode into furious blasting and screaming. Endless Blockade is even heavier though, reminding me also a bit of Catheter in the slower parts, just without the stoner rock SABBATH parts. The dual trade-off vocals are deadly, the bass is oppressively heavy, the riffs catchy and interesting, and the drumming solid. Really can't say enough good things about 'em-these guys are essential for anyone interested in heavier / grind stuff.
